Module 1 – Hiring—Making Sure Your
Employees Have What They Need to Succeed
Your
supervisors/managers will learn:
- EEO dangers and questions specifically prohibited on an application for
employment;
- Employment issues; e.g., probationary period, access to personnel files,
nonexempt employees vs. exempt employees, overtime vs. “comp.” time and much
more;
- How to conduct criminal checks;
- Goals and objectives for a new employee orientation
- Establishing an orientation timeline; and,
- Ten tips to make those first 30 hours shine.
Module
2 – Interviewing With Confidence
Your supervisors/managers will
learn:
- How to avoid discrimination charges;
- Steps in the interview process;
- How to recruit and screen applicants;
- How to “read” a resume;
- Interview strategies;
- What questions are legal/illegal to ask during the interview;
- How to conduct an interview;
- How’s and why’s of reference checking; and,
- Following up after the interview is over.
Module 3 –
Performance Appraisals
Your managers will review:
- Providing effective feedback
- Documenting performance
- Approaching different personalities
- Timing of performance appraisals
- Evaluation as constructive feedback
- Appraisal (evaluation) does not salary adjustment
Module 4 – Disciplinary Action and Terminations
Your managers will review:
- Proper documentation
- When to discipline
- Legal issues
- When it is time to let them go
- Code of Conduct for employees
